First Human Case of H7N4 Bird Flu Confirmed in China

The first ever human case of H7N4 bird flu has been confirmed in China.

The patient was a 68-year-old woman from Jiangsu province in eastern China. She developed symptoms on Dec. 25 and was admitted to hospital on Jan 1, officials said.

The woman recovered and was released from hospital on Jan. 22, The Guardian newspaper in the U.K. reported.

Hong Kong officials warned citizens traveling to the mainland during the lunar new year holiday to avoid wet markets, live poultry markets and farms, The Guardian reported.
